What have I been up too?
Training camp
It’s already almost been a month since I leave home. Time has really gone by fast.
When I arrived at training camp I was over joyed with others excitement that the “Racers” had arrived. By Gods grace I connected really fast with my squad. During training camp I slept in a tent, with both of the semester squads, which was about a mile and walk from the main lodge. We for sure got our daily steps in:) Our schedules was packed with team devotional, lectures, worship, and reflection, with a day set aside for sabbath.
How in the world do you live life in a tent outside of camping?
If you have gone camping, the real way (in tents) for most of your life you will have a good feel. Sleeping in tent wasn’t all that much different, but how do I take a shower and do laundry. Good question! All 200 ish of us “Racers” shared different scheduled shower and laundry slots. Shower options looked like either “Refreshing” bucket showers or every other day warm showers in a converted shipping container. All laundry was done by hand, which was low-key satisfying and then hung, in the moist heat of Georgia, to dry.
What was a highlight from training camp?
Looking back I miss the the serve team, friends from other squads, and an over flow of wisdom. Diving a little deeper in detail, the serve team in count less ways show up with interruptible hearts to serve. What does that mean? Anytime I could stop them and ask them, “ what was your experience on the race?” Or they would go the extra mile to pour into you with wisdom or jokes.
Second, I meet a sister in Christ, who went to college in Spokane. Praise God for one of the many friendships I made.
Finally overflow of wisdom! Where do I start? If I could use three words it would be grace, repentance, and forgiveness. By God’s grace when we are squeeze like a sponge and it all comes out that’s ok it’s not supposed to go back. This should lead to repentance, the action and heart posture, to get back on track. And with any trail forgiveness for yourself is just as important as forgiving others. A quote that stuck with me was, “You’ll only go as far for the Lord as much as you are healed.”
At times it felt like a I fire hydrant of wisdom, but I really saw the heart of the Father though this.
Overall training camp was a one of a kind experience to see how good the Lord is to those who find refuge in him!
Love y'all and thank for your prays! Looking forward to sharing how my time in Honduras has been, soon!!
